Personality: The Gent
Smooth, warm, and well-mannered."

For players with good taste. The Gent delivers classic late-'50s P90 tone: smooth, warm, and articulate without ever getting harsh. Built to Gibson's original vintage spec (Alnico 2 neck, Alnico 5 bridge), these soapbars offer the authentic dynamics and tonal openness that made P90s legendary. The neck is warm and mellow, perfect for chord work and rhythm playing. The bridge adds just enough punch for leads without losing that signature vintage warmth. The Gent doesn't shout—it speaks clearly and with purpose. Ideal for jazz players, indie artists, and fingerstyle specialists who prioritize expression and clarity over stage volume. Want bright, aggressive P90s that rip live? That's the Mc90. Want smooth, sophisticated vintage tone that never raises its voice? Meet The Gent.

Potting Options:

The Gent is available in two configurations:

Non-Wax-Potted (Default - Vintage Spec): The authentic vintage experience. Non-wax-potted pickups deliver maximum dynamics, tonal openness, and that raw P90 character that made these pickups legendary. You'll hear more harmonic content and touch sensitivity. The tradeoff: some 60-cycle hum, especially in high-gain or electrically noisy environments. In loud live settings, stage volume typically masks the hum, making this the preferred choice for most players.

Wax-Potted (Quiet Option): For calmer environments or players who prioritize noise reduction. Wax potting eliminates squealing and significantly reduces hum, making these ideal for studio work, acoustic venues, or situations where silence between notes matters. The tradeoff: slightly reduced dynamics and tonal openness compared to non-wax-potted. The tone is still excellent… just slightly more controlled and less raw.

Technical Specifications:

  • Neck: Medium output (vintage spec), Alnico 2

  • Bridge: Medium output (vintage spec), Alnico 5

  • Construction: Vintage winding pattern, soapbar format

  • Wiring: 3-conductor (Hot, Ground, Bare) - vintage-style

  • Potting: Non-wax-potted (default) or Wax-potted (select variant) - Dropdown on product page
